Check out the renga link in the top post & let me know in the comments if you'd like to play, or if you have any questions. If there's enough interest, I'll kick off a game. xo

One of my favourite writing games:
1. Pick a cheese you have strong feelings about. You can like or dislike it, have strong associations with it, as you wish, just not a boring or neutral cheese.
2. Write a personal ad from the point of the view of the cheese.
I use this as a warm up in writing workshops. It's too ridiculous to take seriously so people tend to have fun with it.
If you are move to share your Cheese Profiles I'd love to read them!

Time to press through my book a bit. I'm going to be doing some Very Ugly Drafting as I get into the next few chapters, just to give myself permission to get it *done*, at long last.
I've got a soft editing deadline in June, and I want to meet it!
Hence this shall be a #WritingGame thread. I have trouble focusing sometimes and need extra stimulus to keep me on track. I've got a playlist going in the background. Every time the song changes, I'll post the last couple sentences I wrote.
Starting with~
Woodkid (I Love You)

Time for a #WritingGame to get some work done! Here's how it works:
I'm going to put on a YouTube playlist of music I like. Every time the song changes, I'll come to this thread and post the last line or two.
I have to keep writing so that I don't embarrass myself by having nothing to post when songs change. :)
So here we go!
(Starting with Faithless - Killer's Lullaby)

Time for a #WritingGame to get some work done! I need to knock out a couple things so I feel comfortable relaxing the rest of the day.
Here's how it works:
I'm going to put on a YouTube playlist of music I like. Every time the song changes, I'll come to this thread and post the last line or two.
I have to keep writing so that I don't embarrass myself in 4 minutes and 33 seconds by having nothing to post. :)
So here we go!
(Starting with Placebo - Running Up That Hill)

#WritingPrompt: "X meets Y"
Make a list of movies you love *but* make them all wildly different: different genres, settings, time periods, styles. As eclectic a collection as you can make.
Next make a grid. Write the movie along the top and the side.
Now write a logline for each of those "X meets Y" combinations. E.g., "Casablanca meets Brazil," "Portrait of a Lady on Fire meets The Wizard of Oz", etc.
Do it fast. Let it be weird. Have fun.

Writing Warm-Up: Write a short sentence. Write another sentence with no connection to the first. Writer a third with no connection to the first two. Keep going. Sounds easy but the human mind is a pattern-matching machine. This reboots my brain every time.
