Had the first writing day of the week today, after taking two days off because of peopling overload from the weekend.
I've edited chapter 1, and it's a decent first draft now, and I finished in the middle of scene 1 of chapter 2. Just couldn't form coherent sentences any longer,.
I added some notes for what I need to add and edit, and then I was happy to close Novelwriter for the day.
All in all, a pretty perfect day.
#nanowrimo day two and I’ve already written more than all day yesterday. Total wordcount is 2626, which means I have another 1374 words to go to make my goal of 4000 words total for the day.

First sprint done! 420 words in 20 minutes, not bad, this early in the morning.
Now, breakfast, followed by some 20 minute sprints.
Oh and meet Buuno, one of the dragons in my book. I've just written the scene where she meets my main character, and I love her so much.
She licked his face when she met him. And threatened to fry his ass if he didn't get up.

I think I know what I’m going to write for NaNoWriMo. Or in better terms: I had three ideas I liked and now one of them is like tinnitus, constantly yabbering at me.
I also need to start having notebooks everywhere because I keep having ideas flash through my mind all the time and I forget them just as fast.
I’m also going to edit a fantasy short story collection. I think that is manageable next to writing a novel, instead of editing another.
This is exciting!

I’ve spent some time today brainstorming my NaNoWriMo novel. No idea what it’s going to be yet, but I do like 3 of the 8 ideas.
This part of the process is always analogue for me, I have some special pages set up in my planner for that purpose.
I wonder if it would be helpful for fellow discovery writers/pantsers if I share that process? #writinglog #planners
I want to do NaNoWriMo, but I have no idea what to write. I set out to do only editing next month, with some noodling on ideas, but I've changed my mind.
I want to write a whole new fantasy story, but I don't know what.
I know that isn't a problem, because 18 years ago, on my first nano, I had no idea either, and I won on the tenth.
So I have no doubt that the book will present itself when I am ready to write it.

Typing research notes into Ulysses and then copying them over to Drafts because it never hurts to have a backup. Might even start a separate notebook so I have a physical copy of the notes. #writinglog #writing
I just had an idea, and I ran to the office to work on said idea and then it just jumped out of my brain the moment I turned on my computer.
This is an almost daily occurrence, and it's annoying as HELL.
It's not that I can't pay attention to anything. I sometimes pay attention to way too many things. A new thing comes in, and everything else is gone.
But sometimes I sit down and write something else and then, boom! The idea is back.
Not today, tho. I tried.
I have a new writing bedtime routine. It's supposedly not healthy to have screentime before bed, but this routine helps me fall asleep, and that's a win!
The routine? Write a random scene.
I open my project, and in the cut folder, I add a new scene about anything I want to.
It doesn't have to be part of the story, I do keep it.
And after a while, I get sleepy. I put away the laptop, curl up and sleep.
It doesn't matter if I use my words Ialthough I often do).
According to Forest, I’ve written for almost four hours today.
Add to that the time I’ve spent taking notes and reorganising my writing, I’m very happy!
This morning, I was unsure of what to work on. I have several projects on the go (blame my brain) and I can jump into whatever I want.
But I feel the need to dive deeper and focus on only one.
So this morning I sat down, and wrote a list of reasons why I want to work on each project, and it became so clear where my passion lies.
This works in any stages of writing for me, for instance if I have different ideas of where I want to take the story etc.
And now I'm off to edit :)
I woke up very early with a pain flare and an idea for my book.
And I loved the idea so much that I grabbed my Chromebook and just started to write. I looked up after an hour or so and had 5500 words.
Not very good words, but very editable words that will be part of the book because it’s a catalyst scene that burst my MC forward to part two of the book.
And I’m so proud that even on days I wake up early and am in pain, I still am able to work.
Just wanted to document for myself that I've axed a character in my edits, she did important things to move the story forward, but I hated her.
While editing a scene I realised the character's actions made WAY more sense if they were done by another character (because of his traits).
So now character A is gone and character B takes up the reins of supporting the main character.
Love it when things like that happen, even though editing is rough.

There hasn’t been much writing these past days. A little bit of cleanup on an old journaling project, but no fiction.
I know that fiction writing will come back. It always does after moments of contemplation like this. In a way, these moments of non-writing are the most essential times. It’s where my words can percolate. #writing #writinglog
So I've been moving the projects I want to work on this year into Google Docs and I'm stupendously happy with it.
I have zipped up the rest of my writing projects, and they live in the archive directory, which I have learned to always ignore.
So not being overwhelmed by a dropbox full of files is just wonderful. And the beauty of having everything in Google Docs is that I can write anywhere, even on my phone.
btw, pomodoro timers are the best. I use the forest app.
Today was not a writing day, today was a sorting of projects day.
I have a mountain of unfinished projects, and I'm dividing them between things I would like to work on this year, things for after that, and things that are unsalvageable.
I have ten projects in my "this year" folder so far, and I know I have to cull if I want to finish something. I think I'm going to stick with categories (fantasy/non-fiction etc) and then see what's left.
