99% of the time, Amazon Music's recommendation engine is crap. But 1% of the time, it turns up pure gold. This is some amazing if you like your writing music dark and moody.

I also adore this single of very strong bagpipe folk rock, quite a different style, but so full of energy and emotion, with equal measures of hope and despair rushing through. Great stuff to help my mind when I need the power, composed and performed by my favorite piper, Ross Ainsley: rossainslie.bandcamp.com/album

(As a writer of , this invariably plants action scenes in my mind!)

@sfwrtr I actually listen to many different types of music when I write. One of my favorites is to listen to The Hu. The driving beat seems to make my fingers fly as I type. And I don't get distracted by the lyrics because I don't speak Mongolian.

But with lyrics I understand, I don't; often get distracted and when I do, it usually means I need to get up and dance and sing a bit to get the blood pumping.

We had an interesting discussion at yesterday on music and writing. Apparently some authors pick theme music for particular characters and play it on repeat when writing about that character. Others have writing playlists or mood playlists. (Songs they play when writing a happy scene or a sad scene.) None of that ever occurred to me.

Got back to this after a while. Maybe my favourite instrumental music to listen to while I am writing. Tony Williams: Lifetime - The Collection tidal.com/browse/album/540605

One of my favourite Scottish labels, Other Forms of Consecrated Life, have all their releases on name your price for . I buy everything from them when it is released, deep sound, very recommended.

Do you Come upstairs to work on your composition? I'm ready for it and waiting under your desk.

The Bear team wanted to share some good , so I figured I’d share my Instrumental Work playlist.

It’s mostly chill, lyric-less, electronic-ish stuff like Bonobo, Ratatat, Proleter, Gogo Penguin, and Hidden Orchestra.
