In written communication, a writer's intended meaning can seem much more clear to the writer than it will appear to the reader.

Novice writers can struggle with this, worrying that they are being too obvious or believing their point has been adequately explained, and as a result, they can err on the side of under-explaining.

This challenge compounds where writing is used to demonstrate content knowledge and learners are attempting at once to both understand and communicate effectively.

Okay so I've had a chance to play around with it, asking it to produce a lit review on breastfeeding. It basically reads like copy from a healthline web page on the topic. Asking it to repeat the action produces different results, sometimes with citations, but all versions lack the specificity and critical analysis I ask of students when they write lit reviews for my class 🤷‍♀️ #writingstudies #composition #pedagogy
