So, uh, sounds like the #WSF #WallaWalla is going through some things. This is the ferry crossing I use most often. Very glad to hear initial reports that no one suffered injury from this incident.

Got on a #WSF. Thought I was headed home. There was an emergency announcement asking for a medical professional, after which there was another announcement indicating the #ferry was headed back to #Seattle due to a medical #emergency. I sincerely hope nobody has passed away.

... and now #WSF had updated the Feb. 14th document with a new one dated Feb. 28th: https://wsdot.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2023-02/WSF-ServiceRestorationPlan-February2023Update.pdf. In it, they're saying the Bremerton route will stay reduced until "at least" October, and Port Townsend/Whidbey will be reduced through the year. And, ugh, the Sidney route will be entirely suspended until 2030.

Highlights:

• #WSF will begin trialing full service restoration on the West Seattle/Vashon/Southworth route Real Soon Now.
• Full service restoration on the Seattle/Bremerton and Port Townsend/Whidbey Island routes depends on getting enough workers graduated from their training program in the Spring.
• For us long-suffering Anacortes/Sidney B.C. route fans ... all it says is that "WSF does not anticipate being able to restore service on theAnacortes/Sidney, B.C. route any sooner than Summer 2023".. Which, I'll note, is different from promising that service WILL begin in the summer. 😪 It might be another Port Angeles/Black Ball season for people who don't want to drive to #BC ferries/Tsawwassen (or points north) to get to #vancouverisland

Hats off to the WSF crews who showed up to work today. Both of the sailings we were depending on were canceled, but wound up happening any way with a substitute boat. This made our Xmas eve a lot more efficient.
