I just noticed that the #linux kernel of #WSL1 (not 2) was upgraded to 4.4 from 3.x (I don't remember correct version though)
I also don't know when it has been updated, however, that means I'm no longer needed to stick old glibc. This was the long-lived issue I'm always frustrated.
So I tried to remove the setting that hold glibc version and did full system update. The result is awesome. I'm in the latest fullset of #ArchLinux without any problem, at least so far.
Has anyone compared disc I/O performance of a #WSL2 environment and a #HyperV virtual environment? Running Ubuntu 20.04 in both, I compiled a piece of software in 5 minutes in Hyper V, and 25 minutes in WSL2. I expected WSL2 to be way closer to Hyper V. Does this match the experience of others? I used Microsoft's #wsl utility to confirm that the WSL2 environment was indeed WSL2 rather than #WSL1.
Trashed #hyperv once again since it messes with my network. #virtualbox will stay this time for real. A bit sad about losing #wsl2 but a minimal vbox will do the same with similar performance. Everything else #wsl1 can do.
