1992, an der ECO92, einer großen Veranstaltung in Rio de Janeiro zum Schutz des Ökosystems. Der Moderator war der Hollywood-Star #JeremyIrons, international berühmte Teilnehmer waren #GalCosta, #TomJobim, #PlácidoDomingo, #WyntonMarsalis und viele andere.
Gal betrat die Bühne und sang "Dindi" und "Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar" mit dem Meister Tom Jobim, der sie am Klavier begleitete. Gal hat einmal mehr ein Werk des großartigen Tom Jobim mustergültig interpretiert.

Wynton Marsalis - Black Codes from the Underground
When this came out in 1985, I remember interviews with Wynton where he dismissed all non-Jazz forms of popular music. He was (and is) one *serious* dude, with incredible talent, which he's proven over and over again.
But back then, being a callow and opinionated youth, I don't think I gave this great album a chance. It's pretty incredible.
I still think he's wrong about everything-but-Jazz, though!

@Eriksandberg Jag lyssnade på det albumet i förrgår. Förträffligt bra, som alltid med #WyntonMarsalis, men jag gillar orginalet bättre på de här låtarna. De bryter ju t ex av med nästan samtida jazz emellanåt — det är nästan som att lägga beats på Claire de Lune.

I saw two only shows at Blues Alley in Georgetown; both were recording sessions for live LPs. #WyntonMarsalis in December, 1986 and Jamal in December, 1991. I flew back to SC for Christmas then up to DC for the show. Both times, tickets were birthday gifts from John (RIP).
I googled the set list for Ahmad Jamal at Blues Alley; he played "Time for Love" that night.
