First post from #HaikuOS! Biggest usability issue is that my #ThinkPad #X200's screen is getting a bit dim. I'm using #QuickLaunch as my application launcher. To configure the keyboard shortcut, I tried to set /system/apps/QuickLaunch/QuickLaunch as the application path, but that just opens the enclosing folder. I had to use /boot/system/apps/QuickLaunch/QuickLaunch . Not sure what the distinction is.

Created a sndionotify script to read the output of sndioctl -m on #OpenBSD and show notifications on dunst via notify-send whenever the volume changes.
Systray, schmistray. Widget, schmidget. I've got #scripts. :P
(Didn't need to create a script to change the volume like I did with brightness because the OS (or #Libreboot??) automatically handles the volume buttons on the #X200
24 SLOC ;)
(Could be less, but I'm not playing golf :P )

Wowsa...
8 seconds to pop open Firefox window from cold and populate it with *anything* under #Linux on my #X200
THIRTY seconds under #OpenBSD on the same machine.
The price we pay for security, comprehensibility, elegance, decent manpages, and... what else? Oh yeah, no ruddy systemd. XD
Also 8 seconds for Chromium under OpenBSD. #Optimizations

Running regular webshites like Github and Gmail on my #Libreboot #OpenBSD #Thinkpad #X200 feels like a betrayal of trust.
Sorry little buddy. :(

Ok, slightly confusing. Ran a test and my #Thinkpad #X200 runing #OpenBSD dies when the battery gets down to 48% (I disabled all services, remounted everything but /home and /tmp (ramdisk) as ro, and ran a loop that ran sync and apm -l to a file every minute)
The battery died at 48%. Now that I've got it plugged in and booted up all the way again, I see that the battery percentage is 22%
Ok, make up your mind, battery :P
Also, MX Linux.
I also have a #Librebooted #X200, and I wouldn't much like the bloat of Ubuntu on it.
Running Debian on it now, but I'd also consider MX, EndeavourOS, and maybe Void Linux (more advanced).
Started to compile #Guix on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz...
See you tomorrow ? Haha

@libreleah Aand it's also pretty sweet that the main #libreboot dev likes rick and morty 😊 I have an #x200 I got from #minifree in 2015 (I think) favourite laptop since then.
@jrballesteros05 @hund what do you find expensive? I believe you can get a #thinkpad #x200 from vikings or minifree for less than 500$.
I have an #x200 which I really adore. It's incredibly tough, has a fantastic keyboard, is easy to service and repair, and fits in my backpack. It isn't a processing power monster though, and has no integrated webcam. But for my use it checks all the boxes
I really like this #lowtech blog, here's one of the many good articles. I also relate, having an old #x200 #thinkpad
How and why I stopped buying new laptops https://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2020/12/how-and-why-i-stopped-buying-new-laptops.html
Does someone successfuly #livestream-ed using a #Thinkpad #x200 from one of these vendors ? https://ryf.fsf.org/vendors
