Wow. That's it for #VisualStudio for #Mac. Support ends entirely 12 months from today, and they're not adding any more features, which means .NET 8 won't be fully supported.

#JetBrains Rider has always been superior to VS for Mac for most workloads, but I don't know how well it handles #MAUI and #Xamarin now for people working on .NET mobile apps.

Looks like VS Code will be Microsoft’s answer to dotnet development on Mac going forward. Hopefully this means that we’ll see focused improvements to the new C# Dev Kit extension in VS Code.

It seems unlikely, but is this a glimpse into the future for Visual Studio on Windows?

In particular, I want a specific option (button?) to only be displayed when a particular page is being displayed.

@brass75 - hmmmm, an interesting option. I've only started using the MBP as my daily driver fairly recently - it was just my #xamarin development system previously.

I hadn't considered the Air at all - will certainly need to take a proper look if the spec's are as you say.

Well, looks like my #macbookpro is finally too old to get the current version of Xcode.

It's not that I use it of course, but I need it to develop and build my #xamarin apps and start to migrate them to #maui.

I thought I had a little while longer but it looks like I need to think about putting my hand in my pocket for a new one.

Planning to drop support for #xamarin in the next major release of #cslanet - Microsoft is planning to drop Xamarin, and I am now down to just one computer that can still build the old Xamarin projects...

Really getting on well with #jetbrains #rider - more so than I ever did with Visual Studio for Mac.

Rider is so much more capable and finding myself more productive with all the keyboard shortcuts, something I never quite got to grips with in #vsformac which feels very much like a second class citizen compared to it's Windows equivalent.

This also helps me make the decision on Windows or Mac for my new laptop - looks like the #Macbook has it
