Katydid on xanthorrhoea leaves
The very dense spray of long, thin leaves make for an interesting, if challenging location for macro. The katydid’s extravagant antennae aren’t quite as prominent as I’d hoped, but it’s a nice study in green, contrasted with silhouettes.

@BirgitMoldenhauer Yep, that’s a grass tree, or xanthorrhoea species.
They’re very pretty as they are, but the flower spike can be spectacular. I posted a couple of these recently so I’ll just add generic alt text. You can see the spike can reach 8 metres or more, and it grows very rapidly, however it’s quite solid wood, not fleshy.

Here's one of my potted grass trees (#Xanthorrhoea) it's a uniquely Australian plant, which epitomises the Australian landscape it can withstand drought. Bushfires will burn the foliage and blacken the stump, but then it regrows.
When it does flower, it produces spikes, which can grow up to two metres and which eventually turn brown. It can take 20 years for just a trunk to form and it will take years for one to reach its full height. I pruned the liwer foliage today. #AustralianNative
