How good is #Firefox #sync (bookmarks, passwords, …) #privacy -wise?

Is there a significant difference with using #xbrowsersync and a password manager like #1password ?

Having now switched my #bookmarks to #xBrowserSync I could also ditch #Firefox for #Chrome (#Chromium) with all synchronization disabled for a bit better hardening features. Also, after restarting PWAs from the app launcher they are recognized as stand-alone apps so my issue mentioned last week is gone. And with Chrome now supporting #Wayland I can also properly screen-share again -- hooray!

It allows to securely store and synchronize #bookmarks across browsers and devices, but the add-on got its "latest" update on April 9, 2020!

Donc apparemment il existe plusieurs instances publiques pour #xBrowserSync , les favoris sont chiffrés sur les serveurs, et on peu installer sa propre instance au besoin si l'on veut garder un contrôle total.

I'm working on a lightweight reimplementation of the xBrowserSync API server that does not require a database server and uses the local filesystem instead. It also does not require any language runtime (it's a standalone #golang binary). It's already working but needs some polishing. I'm wondering how popular #xBrowserSync is among the #selfhosting community and if there is any interest out there for an alternative server.

@sad_observer I recommend #xbrowsersync for bookmark sync and #bitwarden for password management
