Found some of the Mesozoic dikes intruding the Proterozoic to Neoproterozoic bedrock here, but failed to get good images.

This photo was taken on a mid-March day after a spring nor’easter cleared away, although the wind was still high. The currents, wind and waves give the outermost cape a spiral shape. This is the area where the Gulf of Maine, Cape Cod Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean meet. The view is approximately northward.

The Quincy granite was a prized architectural stone, most famously used in the Monument in . Current dating suggests it was intruded into before it glommed onto as and were assembled. Today’s set comes from a walk around the eponymous Bunker Hill Quarry. I’ll post more about the history later. Captions!
