even in freakin audio tech Americans wanted to stand out, with making their xlr3 connectors incompatible with European and Japanese ones :nkoFacepalm2:
Thankfully this is now obsolete, but WHY did it need to happen in the first case???

… but on the other hand maybe let’s wait till we test just how good is audio of Røde PodMic USB via USB not #XLR .
Rationale: I bought last week for my upcoming biz trip next month the Røde VideoMic Go II (see attached pic of my unit) and via USB-C it delivers excellent quality including no distortions, limiter and full compatibility with Røde software: so I guess sound quality of Røde PodMic USB via USB will be much better than your XLR experiences on old Røde PodMic …
meanwhile in Australia:
Røde company, that culturally appropriated Scandinavian letter ø, and that manufactures everything in Australia, not Chyna,
has just launched many products including USB dynamic microphone and several new #XLR interfaces - see attached pic
Why can’t Shure manufacture everything in USA too?
:
good news everyone:
I have found perfect microphone for my 3-day biz trip next month:
-- it's Rode videomic go II, that's made in Australia, not Chyna
-- it is not #XLR just 3.5mm + USB-mic so my experiments with mobile #XLR to USB/3.5mm were not needed
-- it is mini-shotgun mic that has fantastic features and voice quality and should suffice for my video teleconference on-the-go needs (as backup i take also: Apple AirPods)
--- i only need tripod and I am sorted
:
what an ignominy:
my fancy schmancy Elgato Wave #XLR failed in the first enterprise webex call:
microphone was muted, other side couldn’t hear me
turns out Webex was in conflict with MS Teams and I should first kill MS teams process and anyways I should have tested in webex in settings before calling.
Well, good to have redundancy, I have 2 USB mics as fallback if Wave XLR fails…
Good news everyone!
#XLR -ology :
Elgato Wave XLR works fine on corporate PC where I can’t install 3rd party software,
including limiter ( called “clip guard”) ,
so I have achieved microphone nirvana:
on one hand I have the best USB microphone on the planet (Shure MV7) but on the other hand I have the best XLR →USB interface so that
I can experiment and use many XLR microphones:
#XLR -ology:
wow, I can save settings to hardware, including limiter-on (clipguard = their name for limiter)
so theoretically elgato wave xlr should work perfectly with corporate PC where i can't install any software
tomorrow I will check
so far I am 100.00% satisfied:
#XLR =ology:
they call limiter by name "clipguard", but still it is cool thing to have it (works also without software, in device; i tested it also: even when shouting there are no voice distortions like in mentally retarded Focusrite Scarlet):
#XLR =ology:

so far it's the best #XLR interface in the universe - ease of use etc - but tomorrow I will test with corporate PC and on weekend with VST, and i will give final judgement later:
#XLR -ology:
it’s game over: Elgato Wave XLR is the best XLR mic+audio interface in the world:
capacitive mute button with red circle signaling is icing on the cake:
#XLR -ology:
bad news everyone:
Elgato Wave XLR is not working at all when connected without installing software and drivers on PC (what I can't do on my work PC): XLR microphone not working albeit recognized as USB device (so next I will install software for it on private PC and see how it goes):
#XLR -ology :
i luv how simple and yet powerful this device is:
focusrite scarlet sucks and can’t do it at all: hut in device controlling mix of mic and PC is easy peasy lemon squeezy:
Oops, Elgato Wave #XLR not coming today, only tomorrow.
My hope for premature delivery gone, it’s in another village far away today…
#XLR -ology :
Next month I’m going to biz trip, and meeting room will be noisy and I’ll need to do teleconferences in breaks
Maybe Cardioid variant of this lavalier microphone will be good for that trip?:

I need small or tiny #XLR microphone for my biz trip next month, any recommendations or ideas?
(in the biz trip I will need to participate open teleconferences too and I’ll take Apple AirPods as fallback but I’d prefer higher sound quality from XLR microphone)
