#xmasmovie Just watched Bernard And The Genie for the first time in about 28 years. I loved that film as a kid, but was worried it might be dated today. It's not. It's great. It really shines when it lets Lenny Henry do his thing. A missing link in Richard Curtis' career, I don't know why I can never find anyone else who remembers it.

“No, mother. There won’t be a wedding after all. Yes. She went back to her ridiculously picturesque hometown to help save the family farm. Yes, the background check didn’t show the property, but how I was to know it was her foster family? No, it was the single, never married large animal vet this time. What? Don’t lose hope, mom. I am sure the next one will take. Well, gotta go, I have a partner meeting in a few.”

“Spirited” has been watched.

I really liked it a lot.

Some notes:

• Enjoyed the twist on the story
• Liked the commentary on today’s society in one of the songs
• One of the songs reminded me of “Thank You Very Much” from the Scrooge movie
• The dancing reminded me of The Greatest Showman

I won’t say more, but if you have access to it, you definitely should watch it.
