After 6 months or so of switching to other #linux desktops "for good" I found myself back on #xmonad again tonight and wondering why I ever left.

I deleted my #NixOS configs for the other desktops environments and have left future me a note not to change it again 🤣

Ohh, since I did it regularly in the past. Let me pose my #question, maybe here someone sees them and has any ideas:
1. Is there anything like (#Eclipse's) #Mylyn for IntelliJ?
2. Is there anything like (#xmonad's) #TopicSpaces for macOS?

@drmorr #Wayland has been on the rise recently and so have their WMs. The most famous I know are #Hyprland and #Sway. Now X11 WMs, there’s #i3, #bspwm, #awesomewm, #xmonad, #qtile, #dwm and more that I just don’t remember

btw. if anyone of the #xmonad devs(as its maintained under the xmonad project) can give me a good justification why this function is needed, I'd love to hear that. But till then I will consider it just pointlessly playing with fire and will avoid the lib

Can anyone who knows #xmonad or #haskell tell me why this line won't work? I'm not getting an error, but the binding doesn't work. I checked and I don't have a duplicate which is the only reason I can think of why it won't work.

It's really strange but even after years of rarely working with my beloved window manager #xmonad I still miss #topicspaces in every UI environment.

PSA: For anybody using #xmonad on #archlinux with the xmobar panel, it just updated to the latest version (0.46) which no longer reads the xft format - now using Pango instead.

After some time thinking about this and fighting agains procrastination, I finally switched in my personal computers to #stumpwm and I'm gradually leaving #xmonad at work. So far I could reproduce most of my #xmonad configuration and I have the feeling that it will be orders of magnitude easier to configure it to my liking. Who is using #stumpwm?

Very practical use case of #xmonad
THis guy managed to hack around xmonad to start every app in a separate cgroup using systemd-run , but requiring every user to do this is bogus.

I got #fvwm working on my machine (also #xmonad ) but I had to relearn everything. I rlly like the minimalistic features of these window managers

Switched from #xmonad to #i3.
and I am loving it (so far)!
It's nice once you understand how to control (split/rearrange etc) the window panes.

These concepts were pretty useful in my journey
- Containers
- layouts (stacked, tabbed layout)

I missed the master pane concept though, not gonna lie.

I guess there's a lot more to learn.

#Fedora is a great distro. Due to the fact that it's backed by #redhat, your guaranteed a rock solid experience.

I recommend it to people all the time, although I use #Gentoo.

I might go back to fedora if they release a version of #silverblue with no desktop environment, as I have been using a container workflow recently. The only problem is I like to use #XMonad, and I don't want the bloat that is gnome or kde. But until they do that, I have no reason to #distrohop.
