grrr... rookie mistake putting my keyboard back together. Had not noticed the subtle gradient of yellowing on the white keys before, but now that I mixed them up on reassembly, I don't think this is acceptable.

Contemplating whether I should "retrobright" with hydrogen peroxide cream, or just reassemble in the proper order.

Floppy emulator success today; Now I'm getting ready to do the drain cleaner bath on the keys tomorrow.

Took all the keys off and found a broken black one, so it's parts order time again. And the keybed looks like crap! - This pic is after cleaning it up a lot. And I'd love to find a good replacement aftertouch strip.

Today on my XP-80 refurb project: Figuring out how to make a Gotek Floppy Emulator work on the XP.

I watched 5 or 6 videos about it, and gathered all the pertinent tech info I could find, and after some testing realized that I had to do it differently than any of those guys. The only mod I need with THIS Gotek and THIS XP-80 is a simple mom switch to interrupt the floppy S0-select line so the XP thinks the disk got switched. Now to that key glue

...and... it worked! Good Guys did a great job on the caps and we've got our overworked 90's grooves back, including the legally disputed SR-JV80-06 Dance card loops. Started the refurbs and upgrades today, with mod#1 done, the IEC socket to replace that pesky fixed power cord.

woohoo! Just got my XP-80 main board back from a full re-capping job. Can't wait to get it fired up again (I hope!).
Those 25-year-old aluminum caps finally gave up after sitting there constantly on for years at a time, for some reason... ;-|
I sent it over to The Good Guys in St. Paul to get the job done right. If it works I'll do some more repairs and upgrades to the old beast...
