@utopify_org It is fundamentally more modern, more #secure, in cases more #performant too and provides #backwardscompatibility via #xwayland but is at the same time in some cases potentially more limited in the way that some of the remote management apps out there (as an example) are eventually not yet fully compatible. In general though I didn't had any issues with it for months now so I feel comfortable to suggest it as the way to go nowadays.

Why is it that #XOrg #xlsclients doesn't list nsxiv as an X client (running under #Swaywm), even though running xprop and clicking on the nsxiv window shows it as obviously running under X?

I was looking for a quick way to determine if/how many clients were using #XWayland, but xort-xlsclients doesn't seem to be all that useful.

Hay un fallo en #Firefox en #Wayland (no en #XWayland) donde PiP no recuerda posición y, lo más molesto, no se queda siempre encima. Es un fallo conocido. En el mismo "bugtracker" un usuario informa de una extensión (para #Gnome) que sirve de apaño.

@marcan #Xwayland was specifically designed to allow old #Xorg apps to just work on #Wayland as an easy transition method.

And aside from some rare and minor glitches that just works...

@winterschon @marcan @G33KatWork @tnt @sima @lina the only issues I had with #Wayland & #Xwayland on #AMD GPUs are weird texture glitches in #Metro2033Redux & #MetroLastLightRedux which get "magically unf**ked" if one goes in the options menu, switches graphics quality around, confirms, and then switches back and confirms.

Doing some follow up testing post #inxi 3.3.26 release, setup a new #void linux vm, just to confirm something, and realized inxi's xfce detection depended on xprop being present, which xfce detection did not require.

In general, I have to start pulling inxi away from #Xorg specific tools since at some point #wayland is going to start being used and not just be present on the system. Depending on those tools via #Xwayland is also not a good forward path, but there are no comparable wayland tools

Some question, do you know :

1 how to use bwrap for Xwayland app ?

I try to use some python app who have a gui inside it, and i always finish with :

Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified

and the prython library of course generate the error:
No available video device

the 2 Display command used on bwrap :

--bind /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 /tmp/.X11-unix/X0
--setenv DISPLAY :0

(have also tried with X1 and another number used by gdm).

It seem i've missed something, and there is no Xauthority file into my home, so i cannot bind it (like some older forum tell).

If anyone can point out what i do miss.
