It's not really that exciting to me, but I wonder if someone could make a career out of finding and fixing time/date/timezone related bugs in big systems.

Y2K consultants had their moment, but this would be a long term opportunity instead.

And you'd _really_ be in demand assuming you are still doing in the late 2030's 😉 (I think I might still be working then... I'll keep this in my back pocket!)

Curious: growing up in the last third of the 20th century, I was bombarded with predictions of advances coming to life in the 21st century.

I’m not curious about why some predictions didn’t happen or did, but rather about the “goal line effect” of the year 2000 (and one, for engineers and other pedants) for 1900s person.

What is the current “next big threshold” for innovation expectations? What date are we looking towards for the big shifts?

@publicvoit @kensanata Yeah, I expect massive breakdowns of infrastructure running 32-bit controllers in 2037-8 (as things get scheduled for impossible times). Like, it's everywhere, around a billion of them, often buried in walls.

Y2K was "easy", it was mostly on accessible servers and just needed coding.

Don't rely on anything that year. After that it'll all get replaced, but could be a lot of deaths.
