This week's #SundaySong is one of the very few that I can sing while playing bass – which I did at two open mics this week just for fun. But when it came time to record, I tracked vocals and bass separately, so I could optimize them separately. Then I added a little B3 drone, because. This is Fleetwood Mac's version of a Little Willie John song, "Need Your Love So Bad."

An unusual song for me in that it's just genuinely sweet – I used to sing this to my kids at bedtime, but had forgotten about until recently. We knew this #SesameStreet song from #ShawnColvin's version on "Elmopalooza," and my kids called this "the Ernie song," because "I Don't Want To Live On The Moon" is a lot of words.

@cjonthehudson It's lovely! After many years (decades 😨) of not playing, I've picked up electric bass again myself and bought a (new) slightly cheaper version of yours, which I have been having SO much fun playing.

I surprised myself buying the Yamaha -- I'd always been a Fender snob but dang it, this one just felt so much better than a Squier (which would have been about the same $).

After learning for several months on a #KalaUBass, I bought a “real” #bassguitar earlier this year, a 1987 Yamaha with a great sound. I’ll admit I found the shiny black look kinda boring but didn’t want to plaster it with stickers—then I found the perfect decal, an outline of the #FultonChainOfLakes (our favorite place) in the #Adirondacks, which made the perfect accent. If only I could play as cool as that looks.
