I'm trying to ask them to remove a horrible review for the excellent #Mactivate (a review from someone in #SanFrancisco who had a bad support experience - but clearly his experience was in Dublin, California, not the Dublin 5,000 miles away in Ireland!)

Very weird conjunction between #Yelp and #GoogleMaps - a clatter of excellent and thankful reviews from Dubliners for #Mactivate, and one (alleged) review from someone in San Francisco dissing the company. So which review does Google Maps feature on the website? The nasty one from someone five thousand miles away. Very weird @OisinOConnor

Anyone else remember this very bad idea for a #FaceBook #App that two upper crust ladies that we might call Karens now that was about rating people-a #Yelp for humans including Dating Records-and also scoured FB for every person’s Phone Number, basically a huge #privacy nightmare and also possibly not legal?

I always take #Yelp reviews with a grain of salt bc people have different motivations for posting, but when I see a poor review and the owner posts an aggressive response… Look, I get wanting to push back against reviews one deems unfair, but making personal attacks against a reviewer just turns me off. There is a better way to respond if one feels they must. Even if the reviews are mostly positive, I probably won’t patronize the #restaurant. It rubs me the wrong way.

I know the thing lately is to talk about how search engines like Google and Bing are useless nowadays, but can we take a moment to discuss #Yelp? I've asked it for "Mexican Restaurant" (picking it from the drop-down!) in a given area (the northern part of San Francisco, so not a heavy lift).

It's showing me a New American cocktail bar, a steakhouse and seafood place, a sushi place, a French wine bar, and so on. It's just catastrophically broken. #fail

I recently paid nearly $30 for the blandest take-out #pizza I've ever eaten in #LosAngeles. So I wrote a snarky #Yelp review, insinuating that the restaurant had copied Costco's boring recipe.

An hour later, I deleted the review. I found no joy in attacking a small business that didn't do anything malicious. Indeed, deleting that review felt so good, I went ahead and deleted my Yelp account that had years of reviews.

At least for me, the value of #socialmedia isn't always worth the cost.
