The move continues:

I got #yewtube running in my terminal. Now, I just need to export my subscriptions and playlists to a local folder and have an offline copy of everything...then, we can delete my youtube. Well, I'm going to close that entire gmail account and start over. Youtube will be explicitly for posting projects. Not watching or engaging in any way.

I started using #yewtube a few months ago and it has become my favorite #Youtube client on my laptop. Here's what I like:

- It's very lightweight and bs-free
- It's console-based. It even works in eshell in #Emacs
- It makes it stupid simple to download videos. It even replaced youtube-dl for me.

There seem to be #Invidious instances that are broken, e.g. #Yewtube, via which I subscribed a lot of #youtube channels via #RSS :-/

Blöde Frage: Ich baue gerade einen neuen Blog in #Wordpress. Videos von #Youtube werden ja ganz nett embedded. Wenn ich aber möglichst Cookie-frei arbeiten will, würde ich ja auch gerne Videos über #Yewtube oder irgendeiner anderen Fedi-Plattform einbinden. Richtiges Embedding klappt so nicht. Kennt da jemand einen Trick oder Tipp?

Bei #Yewtube erscheint momentan bei mir die Fehlermeldung "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported."

Woran liegt das? Server überfordert oder macht #Youtube was dagegen? Internet sollte schnell genug sein.

Om jullie niet bloot te stellen aan Google’s volg gedrag, post ik hier sinds kort YewTube-links in plaats van YouTube-links.

Nadeel is echter dat de video’s in de meeste mastodon-apps niet embedded worden.

Wat gebeurt er als ik beide links opneem. Is het Google-kwaad dan al geschied? Of word je niet gevolgd zolang je niet op de YouTube klikt?

@sven #YewTube ist eh nicht mehr der Knüller, seit es die eigentlichen Videos nicht mehr proxifiziert, sondern sie dich direkt von googlevideos.com laden lässt. Ich kenne aktuell keine #Invidious-Instanz mehr, die per Default auch den Videostream proxifiziert.

So krass, wie #Youtube einen mittlerweile mit Werbung bombardiert, ist es wirklich Zeit, zu #Yewtube zu wechseln.

Yeah finally got to use #yewtube and it is of #unix phil: i gonna use yt to do searching, yt-dlp for downloading and mpv for playing. Perfecto!
