We've been flying for over eighty years now. No human here has walked on the Earth.
Our last transmission from the ground was five years ago, but our cameras confirm that there are civilisations continuing there. They may even be listening, but they do not, or cannot, talk back to us. But we are seeing some amazing changes there. And we know the robots are still there - we can track them.
Now humans are starting to grow again. This time it is a little different, though.

Just got the English translations of the #manga Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. It sure puts a different spin on the "AI Could Lead to Human Extinction!" headline

The comic is about the everyday life of a young woman robot who runs a quiet country cafe in a calm depopulating world. It's a happily wistful story--she is collecting beautiful memories of humanity to carry forward for millennia.

So I see that headline and think "I hope the AIs remember us as well in reality as Alpha will in #YKK"

In 1986, #YKK Global (famous Japanese zipper+ maker) created their own PC system: FACE16. I've been trying to find more info on this system online, but to no avail.

I've found photos from one Japanese blog, with no replies from the blog owner. I've also gotten information back from YKK Global, but it was relatively generic ("standard parts... office use")...

I appreciate any info on this, thanks!

#Manga question - I see that Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou v1 has been reprinted in English, does anyone know about the print quality? I heard a lot of people complain about the first printing.

I put in a library request, but they couldn't fulfil it when the 1st printing sold out, and I don't think I can duplicate it so that they would try again...

I have always admired #PresidentCarter since he became president in 1977. I met his daughter Amy when she and Abbie Hoffman came to #UMass in 1986 to protest CIA recruitment on campus. I met Jimmy when I was working in #Kurobe #Toyama 🇯🇵 in 1992 and he came to visit #YKK, a Japanese zipper manufacturer that had set up a factory in #Macon #Georgia when he was governor. I gave a brief speech as part of his welcome. I was so nervous and he was so kind. I wish I still had the photo taken of us.

@TechConnectify In over last ~5 years, have not seen #YKK zippers in wider variety of clothes. Dockers & Tasso Elba pants, Greg Norman shorts lack; OTOH UnderArmour sweatshirt & Nike jackets do have.
