@ggiesen After running the beta channel for a few days, subjectively it feels faster, no solid numbers though. Keeping in mind that I have barely anything configured on this thing. I keep it really close to vanilla. I enable the #Mycroft wake word because it feels like I get fewer false activations than I do with #Neon, I change a couple small things about the UI, activate the GPT fallback skill, and that's about it. #YMMV.

I'm a newbie Linux user. As a newbie or just a regular computer using guy, why would I want to use an operating system that's more complex/harder to use or understand?

I'm glad I installed Mint instead of Ubuntu after reading this article. Even if the author is misinformed on a few issues, like the comments suggest. I want #easy. #YMMV

Most of the missing feature complaints are still there functionally, there are just deliberate speedbumps to discourage thoughtless abuse.

LOL, Indies / self-pubs have no monopoly on ebook design problems. IMO, it's mostly over-design and verbose templates.

Before reading any ebook, I regularly strip all the formatting, remove the fonts, and set a vanilla style sheet.

These days I've found even big pubs have more typos & copy-edit problems than books published before the 2000s.

But in the main, yeah, editing can be a problem for all books, all publishers.

In any case #YMMV

Fun fact: you can create #Word docs through the #OneDrive interface without needing to have a paid for service. Note the interface is strictly through the browser, but if that works, then that works. #YMMV
