@veerle @bookstodon I also love Japanese Literature. I've read most of her work available in English. Have you read any Mieko Kawakami? Not so surreal as The Memory Police but I recommend her - All The Lovers in the Night and Heaven are lovely if sad.

I love Japanese literature. Finished #TheMemoryPolice by #YokoOgawa a few weeks ago.

I don't know whether it's just about totalitarianism, or whether it's also a reflection of mental health issues following a toxic relationship, where you forget about parts of yourself too, but it doesn't really matter. This story can be enjoyed on many levels.
