Love this from the BTO.
I really got into using their new BirdTrack app after it was revamped. I switched from eBird to it.
I should do much better than 31 lists this year!

This is properly outrageous.
Why monitor to see if there is any impact from the removal? Why not build the alternative nesting site first - then you can end up with a net-positive for a red-listed species.

First couple of lunchtime walks in the books for the Patchwork Challenge. 44 birds for 51 points so far. Absolute highlight so far being the 2 Bewicks Swans (3 bonus finder points!).
Some very common birds to find yet (where are the Dunnocks!?), but my target of 120 points might have been wildly optimistic.

Today was a Daddy & Ada Day. We went to Tophill Low again, and had a great morning walk. Lots of birds, including a drake Smew. Probably the best British Duck and the first time I've ever seen one.
As best I can tell, it was my 200th Yorkshire Bird.
A good day.

A lovely hour this morning photographing commonly over looked birds.

Quick walk around #PaullHolmeStrays this lunchtime. Very windy, so hard going. Few birds other than the waders on the mud, which a female Merlin was harassing. One small wader in particular was chased for a good 30 seconds before escaping.
Finished with yet another late Swallow!

Birding on the nursery run...
I like to take my binoculars with me when I'm on the morning nursery drop off, I was rewarded this morning with a small group of White-fronted Geese.
No camera with me, but in this awful photo (badly taken using my phone camera and binoculars!), you can just make out the white front and black barring on the nearest one.

A Dusky Warbler spent 4 days at Filey, North Yorkshire. I was fortunate enough to be able to go see it last Friday.
My first ever time seeing one and for a notoriously skulky bird it couldn’t have shown any better!
Constantly calling too for the full experience.

Don't think there is much of a birdwatching community on Mastodon yet, but I saw a very late Swallow over the village this afternoon.
Pretty sure I've never seen one in the UK in November before.
