Day 28: Favourite Kelvin Timeline Moment

The Kevin timeline. Lovely designs. Great characters. Good one-liners. Horrible plot chasms in the stories that ruin each one of them for me. So very many plot chasms. Terrible, terrible plot chasms. So, back to one of those lovely designs, and the introduction of Yorktown in Star Trek: Beyond. Utterly ridiculous "snow globe in space" but immensely pretty.

Finally, re: Fouché, a little connection between the #FrenchRevolution & #AmericanRevolution for my @Histodons

The public knows of the surrender of #Cornwallis (1738-1805) at #Yorktown but probably not of his later career in #India & #Ireland. He also served as plenipotentiary to France during the negotiations for the Peace of Amiens (1802).

Fouché here expresses his regret that Cornwallis's health prevents him from accepting a social invitation but hopes that his son & others can attend

31/ Here's one last final in-depth look at how outbreaks unfolded at 3 North Arlington schools with such a high % of their students getting COVID-19. This shows by grade, plus staff & sports cases. #Discovery #Cardinal #Yorktown

Picked #Cardinal (📈) since it shows APS is NOT designing new schools w/enough clean air. Far from it. (ASHRAE is drafting higher code standards.) APS shouldn't waste >$200-million on an ACC campus that contributes to sickness. Double the ventilation plan; use MERV13.

7/ We mapped high schools and middle schools as well. Look at the impact of impact of community behavior in this graph. During the first Omicron wave, prevalence in high schools & middle schools is similar. Thousands got sick over winter break while schools were closed.

8/ But during the "You Do You" BA.2 wave, #Yorktown is well above its peer schools. So is #Williamsburg.

So what was different? Teachers & students told us almost no one wore a mask at Yorktown. (We know that’s "anecdata.")

5/ We looked at both buildings & programs. Buildings w/most cases:

6 of 8 in affluent N. Arlington; Wakefield had a super-spreader event (prom) that led to a particularly massive outbreak, where Yorktown’s overall amount of COVID spread over weeks after masks became optional was higher.

3 had $$ HVAC work that failed to get rooms up to code; code is also inadequate!
