Armenian #genocide #denial refers to the denial of the genocide against (already systematically discriminated) Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians committed by the Ottoman Empire under the rule of the Young Turks from 1915 to 1918. Turkey denies that the Ottomans were responsible for the killing of one million Armenians during World War I, arguing that:

• The death toll has been inflated;
• Ethnic violence killed Turks as well;
• Deportations and death marches were simply "temporary relocation" of Armenians for "security reasons" (i.e. the pesky Armenians were being overtly "rebellious", "hostile", or pro-Russian); and
• The Ottoman leadership didn't intend to exterminate the Armenians, so it can't be called a "genocide."

He always intended to resign. He was using the poll as a way to save face, like he was doing it to appease the masses. In reality, he was doing it to appease his Saudi Arabian investors/bosses.

Loukianos (Lucien) Cavadias (1879 -1970) was an orchestra leader and composer. He is pictured here with the Philharmonic Orchestra 'Orpheus' in #Rodosto, Eastern #Thrace (today #Tekirdag, #Turkey). In 1910 he was asked to help set up the philharmonic orchestra 'Orpheus' in Rodosto, but his career was cut short by the forced deportation of Greeks by the #YoungTurks, so Cavadias made his way to the US. In 1914, he graduated as a chief conductor from the Academy of Music in #NewYork.

Dr. Mehmet Nazim (or Nazim Bey) was a physician who became a prominent senior official of the Committee of Union and Progress party which played a central role in the #GreekGenocide. An article by general Chérif Pasha published in #France in 1915 described Dr. Nazim as "a resolute supporter of the extermination of #Christians in general and of #Greeks in particular..."
