I'm not sure I agree w your comparison. If I search #tutormentor on the web I find far more sites than I find so far on Mastodon.

If I build an email list I can send a newsletter & reach far more than I can on Mastodon (& probably on Twitter).

I'm never likely to host an instance. I visit this place daily & browse the feed. I find many interesting post, but few focused specifically on #nonprofit or #youthdevelopment.

Whereas my lists on Twitter point to hundreds.

In addition it would include educators who understand the need for youth support during non-school hours and the need to expand networks & #socialcapital,

I keep looking for people using #tutormentor #youthdevelopment #nonprofit in their Mastodon comments. Not finding many here.

Of course, on Twitter, even though I follow over 200 accounts of youth serving programs in #Chicago & beyond, few are active, and even fewer talk about challenges, opportunities & ways to work together to address these.

Yet, I still see more from these groups than I do here. I'll keep checking.
