I believe strongly that young people ought to have a say in decisions and policies that impact their lives. Our societal and psychological commitment to adult supremacy often blocks that opportunity.

My work is dedicated to working through those challenges to transition leadership of groups that serve youth into the hands of young people themselves.

Algorithms are being used to "help" people in need, and young people in (after) school. But we should be asking what kind of help they are providing, who they serve, who makes money from them, and what the impact will be.

A heck of a lot of data is created about young people and the clients of human service programs. It tracks, analyzes, determines worthiness for services, and so on. It's done that part for years.

What's new is that some believe it can be used to shape human consciousness. And of course the goal consciousness, intentionally or not, is one of white supremacy and colonialism.

Almost nobody is asking questions about this. Front line workers, who ARE concerned are never asked their opinions. Clients and young people who are concerned are ignored.
