Ich hab letztens auf https://www.magentamusik.de ein paar interessante Konzerte gefunden und wollte sie mal archivieren, um sie irgendwann zu gucken. Leider unterstützte yt-dlp die Seite noch nicht. Ich musste also leider eine Stunde investieren um herauszufinden, wie man einen extractor für yt-dlp schreibt. Hat immerhin geklappt!

Vielleicht stelle ich irgendwann noch einen Pull Request dafür…

Wow, the #DataFarms are really circling the wagons bigtime. First Titter closing down API access, and then anonymous web access. Then cRedit closing down API access. ThemTube have been wriggling and kicking to stop instances of Invidious and Piped from working. Now they're hammering the devs of youtube-dl:

"Access denied... Due to a ruling of the Hamburg Regional Court, access to this website is blocked."

I just use `mpv ytdl://URL`, and `yt-dlp` directly when I like a song.
This doesn't allow me to click on similar videos, but I watch YT sporadically and it doesn't matter.

yt-dlp is horribly slow sometimes, not the download part... download is as fast as always... but whatever it does to get relevant data out of link before it starts download. #youtubeDL

I have it installed on my mac and it was working 90% of the time but more recently not at all. Yes, it has the current version.

youtube-dl/yt-dlp trick for data hoarders: You can use yt-dlp to download all podcast episodes with the generic extractor. Combine with --download-archive, --no-overwrites and --no-post-overwrites to track which episodes have already been downloaded. Use with care and be sure to have sane sleep intervals as to not inundate webservers. Be thoughtful with the usage here, especially for large podcasts!

Naja, Sony ist eben nicht nur "Hersteller", sondern eben auch "Rechteinhaber".

Und wenn Sony (statt nur auf "seine Rechte" zu achten) gleich "das Internet kaputt machen" möchte (Stichworte: # Quad9, #Uberspace, #YoutubeDL), dann ist das IMO ein guter Grund, dieses Verhalten nicht auch noch finanziell zu unterstützen (durch den Kauf von "Produkten"). 🤔
