Bycatch is a contentious issue in Alaska, with the big Bering Sea trawl fleet taking some heat for poor salmon runs on the Yukon and Kuskokwim rivers. But science suggests that bycatch is no more than a minor factor in the salmon failures. 3/ At the time, #Walmart wanted campers to park along the right side of the lot (when you face the store). This edge of the lot is just across the adjacent roadway from the #Yukon river.

There's a short period in the autumn when the air is just about at freezing at sunrise -- but the #YukonRiver is still quite a bit warmer.

So I got up early the next morning, and walked across the river to the bank of the Yukon.

It was just magical. The mist was rising from the warm river, through and around the vegitation, and back-lit by the sun starting to olor the Eastern sky.

And I didn't have to wak more than 50 feet from the RV door to see it.

As I said, it was the single best campsite we've had in nearly 2 decades of RVing, and ~ 30 months on the road. And it was just a Walmart parking lot -- in exactly the right place, at exactly the right time.
