I promised a few unsolicited #Solax tips…
1) Don't trust the app! If it says it's saved a change you've made, refresh then go back and check.
2) An #EVcharger like my #Zappi, needs an extra CT clamp to monitor battery consumption (on a hybrid inverter like Solax). Otherwise it'll drain the #HouseBattery to charge the car.
3) If you have a #SolarDiverter to heat water, like our #iBoost, and you set it to boost on cheap off-peak rates, use Force Time Use… (1/2)

Today most of our solar PV was directed to charging our car (though slowly), thanks to #MyEnergi's #Zappi. Yesterday most of it was exported to the grid.

Yesterday the Zappi car charger was installed at my home. It's smart enough to only charge the car with (excess) energy generated by my solar panels when I want to. Can't stop looking at the little graphs in the app to see if it's charging or not right now (nope) 😆 #Zappi #EV #SolarPanels

So today was the first day this year my #solar was strong enough to run the house and charge up my 6.5kW #battery, and still have plenty of surplus to charge my #ev car.

Sadly I couldn't move my car initially due to work, and by the time I could my solar surplus was then below the 1.4kW minimum to charge via the #zappi to the #ev in eco+ mode.

A missed opportunity. But shows that as weather and solar radiation improve, I will be able to leverage this with my #ev (which I didn't have last summer when the #solar was originally installed).

Great January day for #solar. This morning the #homebattery got charged to 95%, done two loads of washing and now the #Zappi is diverting excess to #EV rather well.

The next generation @myenergiuk #Zappi is really neat bit of U.K. charging hardware. The new model now has WiFi hub internally and communicates directly from the unit to App via WiFi. Very impressed. Great choice for those considering or with Solar panels.

I found a use for #homeassistant over the weekend. My #renault #megane e-tech is failing to charge with a #hypervolt charger sometimes. By tracking the Charge and Plug states of the Megane. It seems the car goes into a state that should not happen. A similar issue has been seen on a #zappi

Visited some #EV owning friends for a catch-up, got to try out their #Zappi home #electric car charger which topped up the MG ZS EV at a speedy rate almost 11kW

@suebeesley Interesting post, I like seeing stats. We have 4.2kW of #solarPV facing 200 degrees and a 10.4kWh #homebattery, our latitude is similar to yours.
December's stats;

Just installed #homeassistant on a micro pc using the generic x86 download. Apart from a bit of an issue getting an EFI boot entry setup, using Mint live allowed me to sort this, all seems to be running ok. Now I need to get #Myenergi #Zappi, #Harvi, plus #Foxess #homebattery and #solaredge #inverter integrated. Be great to have everything on one display instead of 3 apps. #homeassistant seems to have found my TV and Router automatically so they are on the dashboard. Neat!

... #SolarEdge, Boy, are those folks control freaks! They also disable their local endpoint and leave cloud-only access, but in their case it's *read-only* access. No updates :(

Car is a #KIA. No published open API.
Depressing isn't it?
Anyway, the experience has certainly ensured that I will be more careful when making product choices in the future 🙂 (2/2)

@AJ @ottocrat @suebeesley also good to see the wind has got up and providing a lot of power. Our recently fitted #homebattery system managed to power the whole house yesterday after a full chArge the night before. Today the solar has got it back up to 95% by lunchtime and now the #Zappi has kicked in and is now charging the car. Daytime units used since the battery was fitted 3 weeks ago has been zero!

Had our home battery fitted yesterday, 10.4kWh capacity. This completes our setup of 4.6kW of solar PV, Nissan Leaf EV, Zappi charge point and diverter (not an EDDI) for the hot water. Just below freezing outside but the solar is generating over 2kW, battery storing the excess, and so far 0 units of grid electricity used today!

9:40 am, in early November, in Manchester UK, and we already have enough from the solar system to be sending 2.2kW into the car. Ok, so it's uncharacteristically sunny right now but I'll take that.
