My kids (13 and 16 yo) are Japanese, but born and live in the US, and this is their 3rd or 4th times in Japan. When we went to a restaurant yesterday, they got on the tatami style seats without removing shoes, it was interesting for us 🤔
BTW, we remove our shoes in our home in PA, but I guess they never went to a real Japanese style restaurant, but they speak fluent Japanese 😉
