@Gemma Sure, I'll do that. I have blocked #zeroCOVID and #COVIDIsAirborne, though, so I likely won't see as much of it. I may end up having to block #COVID19 I don't know.

I was trying to go back through my replies and find the pro-ivermectin post that I responded to, but I can't find it now.

My attempt to have a good faith argument with someone else just blew up. So. Yeah. Time to not set those hashtags aside for a while, it seems. If you can send me the list of COVID-19 Resources Canada users that are on Mastodon, I would appreciate it, though.

@Gemma Okay. So. You probably don't care. This all started because I said, "I wish that public health and ID people would move from Twitter to Mastodon."

Then I received the following reply from "Chad" (pic 1):

So I started following zeroes.ca and #zeroCOVID, and a bunch of other COVID hashtags, all of which I have unfollowed except #COVID19.

But for a while, the COVID/zeroCOVID hashtags I was following, was NOT giving me PHAC or ID folks, it was giving me a lot of people saying a lot of things, and not actually providing much (if any) infectious diseases or actual COVID-related information.

So I asked for more information. Which I guess was misinterpreted as ME acting in bad faith, when I was ALSO seeing things like this:

It looks to me like there are 3 servers, mstdn.ca, ohai.social, and zeroes.ca, that have users posting in bad faith.

@tofugolem @wigglytuffitout @freakazoid Chad did side against me. I think @wigglytuffitout Harp and I are essentially saying the same thing - every PwD is sick of this bullshit. I'm sure the real bad actors (like, frex, "nosferatu" here: https://epicure.social/@thespoonless/109577257137113606 ) are more than happy if everyone's frayed tempers (and bad Twitter programming) gets the better of civil discussion.

I've blocked zeroes.ca and #zeroCOVID. I've still got #COVID19 on, but I may turn that off, too.

I obviously need to look elsewhere for good information, re: COVID in Canada.

As the feds are sticking with the h*llsite til the bitter end, I guess I'll have to do a deeper dive than I wanted to, because it was impossible to FIND good info re: the plague on the avian droppings container, even before the chaotic evil billionaire took it over.

We'll see. I definitely need to see if I can get lists working though, as I'm missing a lot of med-mastadon content unless I go looking for it specifically.

I've blocked #zeroCOVID so I won't be seeing as much of the fear/panic/anxiety-inducement without evidence-based science (or the disinformation that I have posted above) but I'm still seeing stuff on the #COVID19 hashtag - which I still need to follow for updates. Because COVID is still a real threat for me.

First - I said nothing about the economy. I have said multiple times, my issue is that people keep calling flu-like TEMPORARY lowered immunity (that makes you susceptible to bacterial infections) a permanent, disabling, inevitable, immediate condition of catching COVID *at* *all*.

The flu causes this temporary lowered immunity, which leads to secondary bacterial infections. I am not disputing SARS-CoV-2 *may* also do this (I've yet to see evidence-based scientific research links proving it).

That is NOT what people are saying, and that is NOT how people are framing it, on the #zeroCOVID hashtag.

I will be staring down year 4 of isolation in a few months, because COVID will still kill me dead. So if I appear to " be losing it" by asking for evidence-based science, and calling for calm heads and not confusing rhetoric, then think whatever you will. I still intend to outlive this pandemic. With a level head and evidence-based guidance.

How is that harassment?

@freakazoid @tofugolem The "warning" I received is clearly anti-science.I have also seen clearly inflammatory, obvious attempts to induce panic, from zeroes.ca. I don't have any to hand right now, because I blocked the #zeroCOVID hashtag, as I was not receiving any answers to my requests for clarification/attempts to discuss #COVID without anxiety and/or panic and/or fear, and to get EVIDENCE-based ANSWERS.

I was also accused of "harassment" and "being s troll" for asking for those things.

The lessons we should have taken from China's failure at #ZeroCovid were

1) Denying the danger in the beginning should never have been done
2) A multifactoral approach INCLUDING lockdowns would have worked, lockdowns alone aren't enough
3) Even for something as severe as covid, quarantine measures should be a balance that protects individual freedoms (e.g. not being welded into one's home/killed) vs social safety (e.g. preventing spread) - NOT one of "kill infected or let it rip"
