I just can't with the HG stickers any more, so I'm going to thin up some MS red and run it through my airbrush for the leading edges of the Zeta wings.

(Don't be like me, friends. Be satisfied with your lives. Hold a gunpla in your hands and say "Oh wow, this is cool" and not "Hhhhhh, this panel line doesn't match the width of the panel line on the other leg." Picky fussiness will lead you down a dark path.)

I did not realize watching the anime that Gundam Wing mecha are substantially smaller than UC mecha - as I was building the Heavyarms EW I thought it a bit pinheaded - nope, it's proportional, just on a 16cm mech (at 1/100 scale) as opposed to an 18.5cm mech. Pictured, the Heavyarms next to my good friend, Gundam Mk 2 in AEUG colors.

Stupid fool that I am for Zeta stuff (even though I'm 'meh' on HGUC kits) I snagged the Gundam Base gold coat Hyaku Shiki and euch, it was definitely A Thing I Assembled. Many of the more visible bits were undergated, but ugly nubs on the forearms, wrists, and upper legs (covered, more or less, with gold leaf pen). Surface coated with some kind of post-dip grease that ferociously clogs panel lining marker. And not a fan of the translucent crimson feet and hoses.

A tiny strip of aluminum foil, a tiny dot of super glue, and a tiny drop of clear green lacquer makes a reasonable looking sensor lens.

(you would think they'd include stickers for those spots, they're clearly glowing green in the show and on the boxtop)

I don't feel like I have to go *super* detailed on a piece no one will ever see, but it's quick and looks pretty okay to dab a little Zeon gray, a little MS blue, a speck of white, and some gray panel liner/pinwash on the pilot.

"Kamille Bidan, Gundam Mark 2, let's do this."

Daubed a bit of dspaie Super Silver on the back of the Rick Dias sensor lens, and between that and the blue component of the LED lightstrip it pops nicely. Just gotta slap some AEUG branding decals and some flat coat on this one and call it done.

Finished up the PG Unicorn decals and while they get good and dry I'm pecking away at this Marasai. It's the first model I've airbrushed completely - cut out of the sprue, washed, primed, painted, assembled, touched up - learned a bit in the many mistakes. Probably the worst was botching the glosscoat - didn't shake it enough, or put it on too cold so that it went on pebbly. 😭

*Missing only a trip through the Z Gundam technical manual for detail paint hints, some AEUG decals from the Decals Box, and a semigloss clearcoat.

I'm not generally one for HG models - I like the detail on MG kits, bigger shelf presence, etc. But I am a Stupid Fool for Z Gundam suits and this one was an instant buy.

(Feels like a reissue of an older kit? Seamlines everywhere, shoulder armor clamshells don't fit great, some weird use of polycaps and also QUATTRO'S RICK DIAS, PUT IT IN MY VEINS)

A source of pleasant nerdery for me is Mobile Suit Gundam, particularly the Universal Century timeline, and super particularly the Z Gundam arc (Unicorn is pretty good too). Building Gundam models follows naturally - here's an RMS-108 Marasai and an RX-178 Gundam Mk 2 in Titans colors (F the Titans, tho, this is Unit 3 that Kamille steals).
