Obsidian, Zettelkasten and productivity. I've been looking for the perfect note-taking app for a very long time. As a result, my choice is a markdown, connections between notes and complete freedom of writing.
I fell in love with Obsidian at first sight and now I have my own knowledge base, a second brain.

I've created a new key memo in our Obsidian vault. It synthesises many existing notes and describes how our studied data centre site in Germany is related to production networks in Asia-Pacific. In fact, the network view helped me explore and theorize relations.
But it's a real danger that such a view indicates finished research or fixed notions. It's worth reflecting on the performativity of such a tool. Reminds me of Gephi issues. @sociology @sts

@tk @ellane lots of people use them as a #Zettelkasten
I’m not a purist but I make sure each note has at least one link or one tag.
@bobdoto I’ve always interpreted sentiments along the lines of “Luhmann was limited by index cards” as “limited compared to modern digital tools” rather than “limited compared to full-sized sheets of paper.” It’s one of the reasons people give for not implementing Zettelkasten with #PKM software. They may honor Luhmann as a pioneer and intellectual ancestor, but they see formal #Zettelkasten as a semi-obsolete methodology that was developed to get around the constraints of analog media.
The Compass of Zettelkasten, is a very useful method to use to discover the underlying context of an idea.
I created a "Zettelkasten Compass" AI command on @tana_inc and now I can easily apply this method with one click!
AI it's a really nice companion🤖

My worm farm is amazing! By turning waste into compost these little wrigglers perfom a kind of magic. It's also a metaphor for my writing process. I don't worry if the input is rotten. The output will be quite different.

@danderzei Niklas Luhmann called his #Zettelkasten a septic tank and a digestive system, so ‘primordial soup’ sounds about on the money. https://zettelkasten.de/posts/luhmanns-zettel-translated/ #notetaking
I don't use Zettelkasten to organise my notes. I use the primordial soup method.
My notes are a broth of ideas from which my books emerge. #productivity #zettelkasten

I've just finished my first cut at a tutorial for using #Forester, my tool for developing Stacks-like online Zettelkästen, reference books, and lecture notes for scientists, mathematicians, and students.

I've decided to completely switch up my #Obsidian experience by converting each of my main areas to their own separate vaults. Having everything in just one vault was getting a tad unwieldy.
I have also created a dedicated #zettelkasten vault for connecting everything together, especially those items that cover more than one area. #Writing things more than once will also help with my learning because it takes at least 3 times before I begin to truly understand something!

I've created a spaced repetition-ish system for #writing, which combined with my #zettelkasten -like system has so far made it easier to continue writing on many topics I'm interested in. It could just be that it's a new system though (that has happened before, whenever I test a new system for managing tasks my productivity skyrockets for a few days), so I'll have to wait and see if it works out in the long run.

@spinningthoughts I like to keep original content intact, add on to my notes when relevant and branch out from them when necessary. #LogSeq @logseq 's name spacing makes it possible to have everything linked in a natural way with a common respective root. I love @obsidian @obsidianmd , but the lack of name spacing kind of confuses me, even though the linking is wonderful. I would love to be as productive as #Luhmann when I grow up. #Zettelkasten and #EvergreenNotes are both brilliant.

Two questions for you #pkm folks and those that use #zettelkasten (-derived) methods:
In your eyes,
1.) Should permanent notes be edited once created, or should they let be and a fresh note refering to them be made instead?
2.) what differentiates a permanent note from an evergreen note?

💬 Tip: DEVONthink offers an auto-#WikiLink feature, that could further improve your Zettelkasten workflow. I summarized my experience here 🌎 https://www.fabriziomusacchio.com/blog/2022-07-21-devonthink_wikilinks_and_aliases/ and here 🌎 https://www.fabriziomusacchio.com/blog/2023-06-10-devonthink_to_go_wikilinks/
If you already use DEVONthink as a Zettelkasten and have practical tips, feel free to share 😙

💬 Personal remark: While #Obsidian works well on desktop and I like the idea of having an app that anyone can use (Obsidian works on desktop and mobile OS and is free), the app still has issues on mobile 📱 when used with large vaults 🤯 (see here: https://www.fabriziomusacchio.com/blog/2023-01-22-obsidian_mobile_and_large_vaults/). This makes the app overall unusable for my workflow. Maybe you have some tips on how to get around the problem? 🤔
