spotted on the side of the road yesterday, it is apparently calathea crotalifera. it was huge! much taller than me.
at first i thought it was a heliconia, but apparently not!

my first time harvesting some of our blue/black olena/turmeric.
it smells like fresh (orange) turmeric with a hint of fresh galangal.
i saved a small piece to cook with & planted the others in new spots.
