Born into slavery around 1818, Frederick Douglass became a key leader of the abolitionist movement.
On July 5, 1852, in Rochester, New York, #Douglass gave one of his most famous speeches, “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?”
He was addressing the Rochester Ladies’ Anti-Slavery Society.
James Earl Jones reads the historic address during a performance of Voices of a People’s History of the United States, which was co-edited by Howard #Zinn. The late great historian introduces the address.

Noam Chomsky
@JaneRLaForge I have not reviewed the course material. I was concerned with *have read the #news that there is critical race theory in #AdvancedPlacement African American class*
I am skeptical when CRT is sited by opponents. It is a phrase that is used as a catch all for *woke* and anything not supporting the narrative of the nationalistic view of history.
A critical view of history is healthy. Not that I support texts by Howard #Zinn in high school.

This morning I spotted an Image on a very old plate almost hidden by chocolates. I can identify with it quite easily 😀
