After the failed beach burn, several Cacophonists including John Law, Kevin Evans, and P Segal, proposed the #BlackRock desert as an alternate site. Larry Harvey, one of the original founders of the event, then accepted on faith that the Nevada desert site would work, and the organization began.
#Cacophony events like this were called #ZoneTrips, a reference to stepping into “The Zone,” some extra-dimensional space of constantly shifting boundaries: unknown, tricky and dangerous.
