@gideonro (*wave; I think our paths have crossed at times over on G+) note that it's not necessary to have separate accounts on multiple instances to follow the (public) posts of other instances. You can access the public posts from a Mastodon server by going to /public/local (or /public, depending on the version or fork), e.g. https://toot.cat/public/local or https://merveilles.town/public
Some apps have even included this as built-in functionality; for example #fedilab for Android allows you to follow various platforms' public timelines as separate timeline columns: https://fedilab.app/wiki/features/reorder-timelines/ (scroll down to the bottom).
Though some instances have disabled this feature.
While this doesn't expose your on-topic posts directly to users of a like-minded community, it can at least work for your own content discovery of posts and people who discuss topics you find interesting.
If you want to go the multiple profiles way, then perhaps a protocol that has #nomadicIdentity support such as #zap / #zot6 or whatever it goes by these days, might be worth looking into. If you have contacts on non-activitypub networks as well, such as #Diaspora* or #Hubzilla, then #Friendica might also be worth checking out.

You know what would be awesome? If #Zot6 and #ActivityWeb converged.
@deadsuperhero did tinker on Hubzilla forks back in the day but somewhere along the line it fell off.
I wish there was something that combines the power & richness of Hubzilla/Streams/Diaspora with ubiquitous adaptive nature of ActivityPub.
Being able to mirror content & identity across hubs/nodes in real time and encrypted?🧑🍳 💋
@brianjgriffith If it's already down, unfortunately, it's gone, unless the admin is willing or can manually export and give you your data. It's a limitation of the #ActivityPub protocol.
As an aside: This is what the #Zot / #Zot6 protocol solved (used by #Hubzilla platform). Your identity and data can exist in multiple servers (you still sign-up, then it is copied over, so you still have the choice). If one goes down, you can switch your “main” server with three clicks.

@ChrisWere as someone with a low-end laptop, I liked the idea of Stadia. Unfortunately the monthly subscription wasn't something that fit my budget. In hindsight I kinda wished I had, because all the refunds sound lovely. xD
As for a title for your podcast, how about something like "(Thought-share / Share a thought) with Chris Were"?
One of the positive things of the Fediverse indeed is the bit more thoughtful comments. For instance compared to Instagram it feels less like a circlejerk where people just comment to get comments back, or otherwise promote their own account.
In a way it feels rather like the early and late #GooglePlus, but without the risk / guarantee that Google will just pull the plug. There are some things I wish would be added though, most notably:
As for some (hopefully regarded as constructive) feedback to your podcast: I felt like it repeated itself a couple of times, and could probably have been 5 – 10 minutes shorter (which, yes, is kinda ironic (?) criticism given the length of my post 😅). After the Stadia segment you had your closing segment, which then basically went on into a segment about the #Fediverse, which I feel like could easily have been an episode of its own. For something I access through my Mastodon feed, I think 10 – 15 minutes is kinda the sweet spot when it comes to maximum length. (Though this might be more of a client-specific thing, as I couldn't continue scrolling my feed on Fedilab while listening, whereas that might've been an option on the web interface.)

Correct, we are also in touch with @mario who develops Hubzilla, which also relies on #Zot (we fund its transition to #zot6). We should indeed engage with these administrations in Germany, thanks for the suggestion.
#zot6 vs #activitypub

@sean #Hubzilla 4 (currently in RC) is supposed to use #zot6 and yet still be compatible with #ActivityPub through the same ActivityPub addon...
And I still don't get what is the incompatibility (the lack of documentation doesn't help...)
A great explanation of nomadic identity concept and advantages over #ActivityPub here: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/issues/216#issuecomment-395016112
But the same request with an osada account (supposed to be in #zot6) don't show any GUID...

@gotexx @mike Merci :-) J'ai choisi #hubzilla parce qu'il est compatible avec #activitypub mais qu'il possède l'immense avantage d'avoir la fameuse identité nomade grâce à #zot6. Et pour moi c'est aussi important que la fédération ! ;-)
