Have a case that's too large for the memory on my big compute node. So I hacked together a #zram of a size equivalent to the total physical RAM available.
Now the case is running at about 85% efficiency.
"Dear department, need bigger machine ..."

It's done my head in for years, but typically i lean to no swap partition/file, then use `systemd-swap`.

62 followers · 363 posts · Server fosstodon.orgWith my 12 year old laptop that was maxed out for _that_ time at 8GB of RAM, #systemd-#swap is really a lifesaver. https://github.com/Nefelim4ag/systemd-swap On the other hand, that project recommends using #zram instead https://github.com/systemd/zram-generator I haven't transitioned yet, as the focus seems to be more compressed RAM (that's zram, innit?) rather than having dynamically scaled SWAP files, and thus for the latter use case it's a bit more digging to find the correct configuration.
