I’ve resumed my slog through #Zuboff as she explores the neoliberal legacy.

We believed Google still practiced their early 2000’s slogan, “Don’t be evil”. But Google’s leaders lost their moral compass, believing they’d been granted a God-given privilege to take the information we jealously guard as our private domain, and turn it into the fuel driving their business.

They did this with complete disregard for the sanctity of every person with whom they share this fragile world.

Das erinnert mich an das Zitat von Shoshana #zuboff ( "Im Zeitalter des #uberwachungskapitalismus ").

Darin räumt sie mit dem Narrativ auf, man sei ein Produkt der Konzerne, weil man sie nicht bezahle, ergo nicht deren Kunde sei.

Nach ihr sind wir nur die Körper an denen die Daten hängen. Die Plattformen seien die Werkzeuge der Konzerne, um uns die Daten von den Knochen zu schälen.

Deren Produkte sind also nicht wir Menschen, sondern unsere Daten, die von uns getrennt werden müssen.

I am exploring #masters in #Sociology and #ComputerSciences, specifically investigating focusing #Internet and #socialMedia.

I would like to steer clear of courses made for humanists who need something trendy because they would not get hired otherwise.

I am looking for something that goes deep in investigating the #social value and social essence of the #Web, possibly considering its intertwining with #Economics and #Politics. I would love to study more and tackle the fundamental relationship technical choices and social effects have.

In fewer words, I would like to attend a master that, if it was a book, it would be The Age of #Surveillance #Capitalism by Shoshana #Zuboff.

I would be happy if it was in a #Europen #university, but I am not reluctant to push myself beyond #EU borders. I am not good at #studying, but I love this topic and I think it is too underestimated.

NOTE: I would also try to avoid that goes too much into the domain of #Law, but I do not mind tinkering with #Philosophy… it is my current major, after all.

Probably @doctorow, @vecna, @mikarv, @aral might have some ideas!
