The Sun today in hydrogen alpha. Processed in natural and inverted luminance. Where I typically use Photoshop and Topaz to process these, I am evaluating PixInsight for solar image processing. This is pretty decent and I’ve yet to learn how to use it…

A quick view of Supernova 2023ixf that’s located in the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101) in the norther night sky. The cloud cover has been a near constant here (May Gray as they call it in Los Angeles), so as soon as they parted long enough I dragged out the telescope and did what I could.

The Sun today in hydrogen alpha with inverted chromosphere luminance. The huge sunspot AR3190 continues to dominate the view.

The second image is just for fun to see how it'd look. It overlays the Hα image over a 171 angstrom (Å) image taken by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory at around the same time. Looks all dramatic but isn't particularly useful scientifically.
